The 5 Year Diary

5 Year Diary is a lined journal with room for 5 years x daily entries. Designed by Tamara Shopsin.

Slow Gaze notes:
I began my first of these diaries July 31, 2009 (at age 19). I have two exactly alike, and I've photographed them here. Some days I write a few sentences in the diary, dutifully, joyfully; other days get skipped altogether. But between my two diaries, I have collected only the moments I found worth writing down over the course of almost twenty years. Exams, break-ups, the first trimester of my pregnancy. I've heard folks lament that there's no way they can write in a diary everyday — seems like too much pressure. An unsurmountable project and a waste of space. But I've discovered the opposite is true. This pint-sized 5-year diary gives you just enough space to jot down the first reflections that come to mind. The years are also self-entered, meaning that you can pause or return to the diary whenever you see fit.  Each page is dated and divided into five sections, and the diary can be started on any day of any year—even a leap year. As time goes by, past entries can be read as new ones are written. Clothbound in black and white striped cotton, with a red ribbon bookmark, the book also includes pages to record the books you’ve read and a world map to track your travels.

Pictured are my two diaries (in blue and white striped cloth).
Not shown is the new and untouched diary you will receive (in black and white striped cloth).

Trust in yourself to not let your days pass by without pen and paper to mark the moments.
